Terrifying moment Ring doorbell captures masked intruder trying to enter house - Mirror Online
A homeowner chased off a balaclava-wearing intruder after being woken during the night to find his 'door handle being tried'.
CCTV captured on the property at around 2am on Saturday morning, shows an individual, believed to be a man, wearing dark clothing approach the home in Easthouses, Midlothian in Scotland.
The homeowner says he was woken by a notification on his Ring doorbell app, and then shortly after he heard his door handle being pulled down in an attempt to enter the property. The man then rushed downstairs in a bid to spook the intruder - who is seen fleeing from the home on the back of a motorbike driven by another black-cladded individual.
The resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told EdinburghLive : "Around two in the morning I was alerted by the ring camera, which I only installed last week, that a person was at the side of the house.
"I got up as the front door handle was being tried and ran down the stairs shouting out the back as he moved around the side of the house. I then ran out the front of the house to see the young male dressed in all dark clothes with a balaclava on.
"He was running and then jumped over the garden wall over the road and onto a motorbike with another guy dressed all the same covered up who then started the bike and rode off."
In the clip, the man can be seen going to the front of the house despite a light on the driveway coming on before walking around to the side of the house and emerging moments later running back out. Shouting can be heard in the background as the motorbike starts up and makes off down the road. It is understood police were called at the time and were seen in the area a short while later.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.15am on Saturday, 19 October, 2024, we were called to a report of two men acting suspiciously in Carrick Crescent, East Houses. Officers attended and enquiries are ongoing."
