Restless Spirits is one of the earliest quests you get in Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Necropolis after recruiting Emmrich, and has two basic functions - it allows you to explore the geography of undead palace a little more freely, and introduces you to the various mechanics that make the spooky pantheon so interesting.
Looking for every High Dragon in The Veilguard? We've got you covered.
It involves chasing Wisps, and is mostly non-combat until the end. Despite this quest seeming to suit Emmrich, it's narratively light and has enemies Resistant to Necrotic damage, so we suggest leaving Emmrich (and Lucanis) behind at the Lighthouse. Since some of these enemies are Vulnerable to Electricity and others Vulnerable to Cold, taking Bellara and Neve the sensible move here.
There are four Wisps in total you need to grab at the start of this quest. For the first, in the north west corner, go to the marker and Interact with both torches. When they glow green, the Wisp appears in the middle. Use R1/RB to release it, then take it to the nearby gate.
The second Wisp, in the south west corner, is behind a metal door lit by a purple gem. Go inside and find a Venatori wall. Ignore the shielded crystals for now, and pull the lever on the back wall.
This opens the room next door, so leave and head around to it, where you can destroy the unshielded crystal. Before leaving, fire a ranged attack at the crystal you can see through the broken fence at the left to the entrance.
Go back into the first room and destroy the now unshielded crystal, then attack the crystal in the wall to free the Wisp. Take it to the gate where you took the first one.
For the third Wisp, head to the door in the north east of the belfry. Inside, you will grab +3 Ethric Remnant, and see unlit candles. To light them you must...
When all the candles are lit, a Wisp appears. Take it to the same gate as the first two. That leaves the final Wisp in the south west. Head to the door you can open, to the right of the one you can't (and the one that has the Wisp).
Go in and smash the boxes to reveal a lever. Pull the lever to open the other door, go inside, and... the last Wisp flies away. Dang it. Head back outside, where a glowing purple rift will appear. Use R1/RB to interact with it, and a skeletal hand will appear. Climb it and grab the Wisp.
Take it to the same gate, and it can finally open.
Inside this gate, several Shades await you. You want Bellara on area control with the regular Shades, as these are Vulnerable to Electric damage, while Neve should focus on the Orbiting Envy Demon, as this is Vulnerable to Cold damage. This demon is also much tankier and comes with Barrier, so Rook should go for ranged attacks.
This is a thin but long battle arena, so be prepared to dodge back when you get crowded. Also watch out for the flaming spheres that fire, well, fire at you. These are destroyed when the Envy Demon falls, but cannot otherwise be harmed, so dodge when the flames swing your way and get back to a safe distance. The Envy Demon also has a zoning attack of spirit missiles that you need to dodge away from late.
We said the quest has two basic functions, but it also has a more interesting one. As it ends, you will be standing in front of an ominous door in the Chamber of the Unforged, where a yellow side quest marker will pop up. This starts Pinnacle of its Kind, which involves defeating high level demons across the realm before returning to open it.
This quest is likely way too difficult at this stage, as the point is to chip away through the game. However, when you're ready, you can find out more in our Pinnacle of its Kind guide.
