Now the revamped property has popped up for sale, dressed to the nines and asking an eye-popping $22.8 million. The listing is held by Eric Haskell of The Agency.

Originally a carriage house for one of the area's first grand estates — designed in 1895 by notorious Gilded Age architect Stanford White, who is largely known for his work on the Washington Square Arch, Newport's Rosecliff mansion and circa-1890 version of Madison Square Garden — the premises underwent an extensive remodel during Starr's tenure, complete with an elevator and a "secret" bookshelf door that leads to an upstairs master retreat.
